Ever dream of expressing yourself on your instrument fluently, improvising & making music free from confines of notation?

Join our 3 day Creative Music Making Camp conceptualized by award-winning composer-pianist Tze Toh and conducted by soloists of TO ensemble.

Why you should join the Creative Music Camp

The workshops are specially crafted for young musicians (Suggested age for participants: 13-18). The creative music camp focus on natural music making & teaches techniques that allow you to develop your own personal expressive language. You will also learn different genres & basics of improvisation, ensemble playing, accompaniment, techniques of practicing improvisation etc.

Learn from professionals about the framework of improvisation in a fun and exciting way through internalizing rhythms, deciphering the relationship between scales & chords that make the improvisation process often so magical, yet seemingly unattainable.

By the end of the camp you will be able to develop unique individual ideas on your instrument, creating a even compelling performance/improvisation.
All participants will record their music in a studio on the last day of the camp and receive a recording in wav/MP3 format.

Day 1: Expressing

Expressing your personality on your instrument, basic concepts of improvisation and genres, developing a music vocabulary

Day 2: Ensemble

Ensemble playing, roles of the soloist and the accompanist, best ways on how to practise.

Day 3: Memories

Rehearsals and jamming, record your music in a studio on the last day of the camp and bring home a recording in wav/MP3 format.

About Tze Toh

Tze Toh is a composer-pianist who created contemporary fusion music group TO ensemble, which performs a fusion of film score, jazz and Asian sounds. He has performed for festivals locally and internationally, including MOSAIC Music Festival, ASEAN Jazz Festival, IMEX (Indonesia Music Expo), JB Arts Festival, Titian Budaya Festival, Singapore Arts Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Journey of Youth Olympic Flame 2010.

 

Till dates, Tze Toh have conducted improvisation/jazz workshops at various schools, as well as for the Ministry of Education Music Elective Program camps.

About TO Ensemble

TO ensemble is Singapore’s innovative contemporary music group that performs original music – a unique fusion of film score, jazz, Indian/Chinese and classical music.

The ensemble has performed for the Official Opening of Gardens by the Bay, Gallery Late Night at the National Gallery Singapore, MOSAIC music festival at Esplanade, Singapore Arts Festival, Titian Budaya Festival (Kuala Lumpur), Journey of Youth Olympic Flame 2010 (Auckland) and recorded film scores including Royston Tan’s film Popiah[薄饼]and SG50 film Sands of Our Fathers.
